GOATHLAND

Goathland is a popular moorland village within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It is situated 14 miles from Pickering and only 9 miles from Whitby and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The village ages back to Viking times with plenty of its curious history still present. Tame sheep openly graze and wander around the area, which boasts old-fashioned gift shops, craft fairs, pubs, tearooms and the well-known Mallyan Spout Country Hotel. The popular British Police drama series 'Heartbeat' was filmed within the village between 1992 - 2010 and had the fictional name of 'Aidensfield' on the show. With its station on the steam-operated North Yorkshire Moors National Railway, it's location deep within the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and moors, its rich history and wealth of amenities - Goathland is a village with something for everyone whether they are visiting for a day or making this charming area their permanent home.
