Lavenham is often described as one of England's finest preserved medieval villages. With its fortunes arising from the wool cloth trade in the 15th and 16th Centuries, the village has a magnificent parish church and a wonderful selection of ancient houses and cottages dating from Tudor timber buildings through the Georgian period to the Victorian era. Today Lavenham is a vibrant village with a most active community and a useful range of shops including a butcher, pharmacy, bakery, traditional grocer's store, newsagents and two useful Co-op supermarkets. There are also a number of interesting shops and galleries and several fine public houses and restaurants - not for nothing is it called the eating capital of Suffolk. There is a well regarded primary school and a doctor's surgery. The property is situated at the northern end of the High Street, with unrestricted on road parking outside.

28 High Street was built around 1860 in traditional Suffolk white bricks under a slate roof with double hung sash windows. In more recent times a substantial single storey extension has been constructed at the rear, enlarging the sitting room to an extraordinarily big room with French doors opening out to the garden. At the front is a recently fitted shaker kitchen/breakfast room with gas fired Aga range. There is a useful utility/cloakroom and upstairs there are three bedrooms, an en-suite bathroom and shower room.
