A delightful Grade II listed cottage located in an idyllic setting in the middle of this picturesque village, just a few miles to the north-east of Alresford. The cottage retains many period features including an inglenook fireplace and exposed beams, and has the benefit of having plenty of storage. There is secure driveway parking, and a lovely cottage garden, which fronts onto the pond.
The property is approached via a picket gate in a flint wall, with a path leading to an enclosed entrance porch at the front of the cottage. The front door opens into the inviting sitting room, which features a beamed ceiling and a large inglenook fireplace with an original bread oven and a wood-burning stove, installed in 2022. The long kitchen at the back of the cottage features a range of kitchen units, with worktops above and integrated kitchen appliances, which include a dishwasher, washer/drier, oven, hob and filter hood. At the far end of the kitchen there is additional kitchen storage and a freestanding fridge/freezer, which is included in the sale. The cosy dining room has some useful built-in book shelving/storage. A staircase in the hall leads upstairs, and has an understairs cupboard. Off the hall is the bathroom, with a white suite comprising a bath with a rain shower above, a wc and wash hand basin.
Upstairs, a door from the small landing opens to the main double bedroom, which has an exposed brick chimney breast and alcove storage. The smaller second bedroom is also a double room.
The pretty cottage garden borders the village pond. There is a lawn with flower/shrub borders and some small trees. There is gated off-road parking for two cars to the front of the cottage.
Upper Wield is set amidst beautiful Hampshire countryside between the villages of Medstead, and Preston Candover, each of these have village shops as well as Primary Schools. Upper Wield itself is set around an attractive green with a hall and a church, with a well-known pub, The Yew Tree, being a 15 minute walk away in Lower Wield. The market town of Alresford is just a few miles away. The regional towns of Alton and Basingstoke together with the Cathedral city of Winchester provide a wider range of shopping and recreational facilities as well as mainline railway stations to London Waterloo (about 50 minutes from Basingstoke). The A31 and M3 provide access to London, the South Coast and beyond, whilst the A34 provides access to the Midlands and the North.
