There is also a pharmacy only about 100 yards away, adjacent to The Dolphin pub, Yacht Club, and foreshore area and slipway. The village also includes a large modern WI Hall, thriving primary school, and a parish church.

Newton Ferrers is a much sought after estuary village on the northern slope of the beautiful estuary of the River Yealm, opposite Noss Mayo. More comprehensive facilities are to be found in Yealmpton, 3.5 miles to the north. Woodland and coastal walks are easily accessible from the village and the Yealm Estuary is very popular with yachtsmen. The A38 Devon Expressway is 9 miles away, Dartmoor National Park 11 miles, and Plymouth 11 miles (distances approximate).
